Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 14 February 2026
Effective Date: 14 February 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the stemwind website and the watch repair and restoration services we provide. By engaging our services or using this website, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the following meanings:
- "We / Us / Our" refers to stemwind, located at 28 Jalan SS 15/4, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
- "You / Client" refers to the individual using this website or engaging our services.
- "Service" refers to any of our watch repair or restoration offerings: the Winding & Wellness Check, Stem-to-Stern Service, or Provenance Restoration.
- "Watch" refers to the timepiece you submit to us for service.
- "Agreement" refers to the understanding formed between you and us when a service is accepted and confirmed.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an enquiry, dropping off a watch, or proceeding with a service booking, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and accept these terms in full.
3. Service Description
stemwind provides mechanical watch servicing and restoration services from our workshop in Subang Jaya, Selangor. Our three service tiers are described in detail on our Solutions page. Services are subject to availability and at the discretion of our watchmaker, who may decline work that falls outside our technical capability.
We reserve the right to modify service scope where necessary, subject to your prior approval.
4. Service Enquiries and Bookings
Submitting an enquiry via this website or by phone does not constitute a service booking. A service is considered agreed when:
- You have delivered the watch to our workshop or we have received it
- We have communicated a written or verbal assessment and scope of work
- You have given your agreement to proceed
Work will not begin before these steps are completed.
5. Pricing and Payment
Our service prices are as follows:
- Winding & Wellness Check: MYR 1,600
- Stem-to-Stern Service: MYR 4,400
- Provenance Restoration: from MYR 8,600 (exact price confirmed at assessment)
All prices are inclusive of service work within the agreed scope. Additional parts required beyond standard consumables (gaskets, lubricants, mainsprings) will be quoted separately and require your approval before installation.
Payment is due upon collection of the watch. We accept cash and bank transfer. Currency is Malaysian Ringgit (MYR).
6. Timelines
Estimated service timelines are as follows and are given in working days or weeks, not calendar days:
- Winding & Wellness Check: 1–3 working days
- Stem-to-Stern Service: 10–14 working days
- Provenance Restoration: 6–14 weeks
These are estimates, not fixed commitments. If a service is expected to exceed the stated timeline, we will inform you as early as practicable. Delays caused by parts availability or unforeseen complexity will be communicated promptly.
7. Client Responsibilities
By engaging our services, you confirm that:
- You are the owner of the watch, or have authority to authorise its service
- You have provided accurate information about the watch to the best of your knowledge
- You understand that mechanical servicing carries inherent risks in older or fragile movements, and that we will advise you of any such risks before proceeding
- You will collect the watch within 30 days of being notified that the service is complete
Watches not collected within 60 days of notification may incur a storage fee. Watches uncollected after 6 months may be considered abandoned and subject to legal disposal procedures.
8. Scope of Work and Changes
Work performed will not exceed the agreed scope without your explicit approval. If during service the watchmaker identifies additional work that would meaningfully affect the outcome or cost, you will be contacted before any additional steps are taken.
If you decline additional work mid-service, we will complete the agreed scope and return the watch in its current state, which may differ from the pre-service condition.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, design, imagery, and structure — is the property of stemwind or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or adapt this content without written permission.
Service documentation produced by us (including restoration dossiers) is provided to you for your personal use. You may reproduce it for the purpose of documenting your watch's history.
10. Limitation of Liability
stemwind will exercise reasonable care in servicing your watch. However, we are not liable for:
- Pre-existing damage, fragility, or defects that existed prior to service and were not disclosed
- Damage caused by factors outside our control (e.g., movement failure due to pre-existing metal fatigue)
- Indirect or consequential losses arising from any service outcome
- The sentimental or collectible value of a watch beyond its replacement cost
Our liability is limited to the cost of the service performed. We carry professional insurance appropriate to our workshop activities.
11. Disclaimers
Watch servicing cannot return a severely worn or damaged movement to new condition. We provide skilled service, not new manufacture. The outcomes described in our service literature represent typical results and should not be interpreted as commitments to specific performance figures.
12. Termination
You may withdraw from a service agreement before work has commenced, at no charge. Once work has begun, a fee reflecting the work completed will apply if you choose to withdraw the watch mid-service.
We reserve the right to decline or terminate a service engagement if the watch is found to be subject to legal dispute, if you provide materially false information, or if continuation would be inadvisable for technical reasons.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. In the event of a dispute, we encourage direct resolution in the first instance. If a resolution cannot be reached informally, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Selangor, Malaysia.
Malaysian consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 1999, applies where relevant.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of our services following a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
